Thought some people here might be interested in this - there is a new lj community for the discussion of spirits of place: the_wight_stuff, "wight" being a Germanic word for "spirit". Although the group was started by and for the moment consists of mostly Vanic Heathen types, folks of all traditions are welcome.

I have a small question.
Is there significance of seeing oneself in a dream?
I had a dream last night in which i had cancer (which runs very thick in my family) and saw myself in the mirror while "going" to take some meds and... it was pretty unsettling. Wanted to see what you guys thought.
Thanks!

I just did a couple of readings for myself, but I'm somewhat new to tarot and would enjoy having others' viewpoints. I did one reading about work/career and one about love/relationships.

Hello,
I am having a proud moment. I finished my circle of stones, prayer beads. So I wanted to share, because I am bubbling over with excitement and when that happens I basically bounce up and down and want to share.

Okay, okay the images from this one are from Hellboy II but the song is "Modred's Lullaby" by Heather Dale. Amazing song.

Or how about this Lady of Shalott one?

I am reading Edward Rutherford's Princes of Ireland, and I'm enjoying it immensely, as I'm one of those who benefits most from works of fiction as illustrative of what I'm gathering from more "factual" sources. Rutherford seems spot-on historically speaking, and he lists in his credits many of the scholars' names that I've seen recommended here from time to time. (He even describes the warrior's "yoga" that some have posted about, and it fit very well with what I've seen discussed here.)
But... in the second chapter called Tara, he describes a Samhain sacrifice and the "three sacrifices" to the three worlds that must be made: to land, to sky, and to... AIR. I am more accustomed to seeing "SEA" here and in other places listed as the third; can anyone tell me if the two are considered somehow equivalents? Or if they are related in some way? I had always attributed "air" to "sky", but I can see how they would not necc. be the same "place". Many thanks!

I wanted to share my recently finished portrait of MorrĂgan. Loosely based on the bronze mask-brooch found in Czechoslovakia dating back to mid-4th century BC.
I initially wanted to make her style more similar to the portrait that I made of Lugh, but she had other things in mind, and kept sending me left to right and wasting many sketches along the way. In all I'm VERY happy with the result, but I have to admit that it's unlike anything I've ever done when it comes to styling, and when put in my archive beside other items it doesn't look like something I have done.

Hello there!
found this comm through another comm, thought i would join as i haven't had much input from other pagans around the globe on a lot of things.
i've been Pagan for almost 10 years now, following a path that can really only be called eclectic. taking ideas and concepts from modern Wicca, Druidism, Buddhism, Hindu and some Christian. my reasoning is that if you were to boil down almost all the major religions and faiths around the world, there is a common thread. a higher power which resides somewhere from either the body, the mind, the planet or above.
i have, however, been teased and looked down upon for choosing a path that's not strictly this or that (i knew it was going to happen sometime, i just never thought it would come from where i've gotten it. *shrugs*)
what i would like to know is of all that you've experienced, of all that you've felt, what would you consider to be the underlying theme? do you think Paganism is something to follow? do you feel that it has ideas to contemplate or do you feel the most connected with the following of a specific set of rituals or observances?
trying to come at this from an intellectual point of view (which i know is kinda odd since a lot of the faiths rely more on the intuitive/emotional side of things.) so, forgive me if it doesn't make sense to you. i'm just a traveler but i'm likely on a different path... but, in the end, don't they all end up in the same place anyway?
thoughts? ideas? a poke-in-the-head-with-a-sharp-stick?
